About
Kampus is a university-centric social ecosystem that bridges the gap between social networking and campus utility. It provides students with a hyperlocal space to connect, trade, and discover events, all while operating independently of official university systems. Built with a focus on trust, safety, and community, Kampus empowers students to make the most of their campus life.
Setup Guide
- Download & Join: Install the Kampus app from the given link and sign up using your student email or phone number.
- Select Your Campus: Search for your university to join your local community. No institutional login is required to get started.
- Set Up Your Profile: Personalize your profile with a display name and bio. Choose whether you want to post as your verified self or a pseudonym relative to your student community.
- Explore the Feed: Start following your peers, join discussions, and vote on campus polls to stay in the loop.
- Trade in the Marketplace: To sell an item, simply snap a photo, add a price, and post it to the marketplace. For textbooks, use the ISBN scanner to fetch details automatically.
- Report or Reclaim Lost Items: If you found something, post it with a "Verification Question" (e.g., "What's the sticker on the back?"). This ensures the item only goes back to its rightful owner.
- Discover Events: Check the Events tab for upcoming campus rallies, study groups, or parties. Get real-time notifications for events happening right near you.
Technical Architecture
Kampus is built on a modern Microservices-based Monorepo architecture designed for scalability and fault isolation:
- Frontend: React Native (Expo) with NativeWind for a premium, cross-platform mobile experience.
- API Gateway: A lightweight Express.js proxy for secure request routing and rate limiting.
- Core Services: Node.js/TypeScript microservices handling business logic, user management, and social features.
- Database Layer: PostgreSQL managed via Prisma ORM, with Redis for sub-second feed caching and session management.
- Real-time: Socket.io integration for instant messaging and live notifications.
- Media Infrastructure: Cloudinary for image/video streaming and Vercel Blob for document storage.
